BREA : Bids Sought to Widen Brea-Lambert Junction

Share

The City Council voted this week to receive bids for street widening work at Brea Boulevard and Lambert Road in an effort to ease downtown traffic congestion.

The $300,000 project will be financed with Measure M transportation funds.

The city wants to expand the intersection by adding right-turn lanes on northbound Brea Boulevard and eastbound Lambert Road. New traffic signals will be installed as part of the work, and surveillance cameras will allow city workers at the Brea Civic Center to adjust the signals based on traffic needs.

Landscaping improvements will be included in the project, and bike lanes will be striped in accordance with the city’s bikeway plan.

The council is expected to award the construction contract June 6. Work is to begin in late June and be completed before schools open in September.
