NBA Teams Still Move in Opposite Directions

Share

As the current Clippers watched the first round of the NBA playoffs on television, these ex-Clippers were participating:

Mark Jackson, Indiana.

Dominique Wilkins, Boston.

Charles Smith, New York.

Michael Cage, Cleveland.

Ron Harper, Chicago.

Ken Norman, Atlanta.

Danny Ferry, Cleveland (drafted, didn’t play for Clippers).

Terry Cummings, San Antonio.

Danny Manning, Phoenix (injured).

Coach Larry Brown, Indiana.

How much longer do we fans have to put up with the inept ownership and management of the Clippers?

A couple of years ago, when everybody was talking about how the Clippers would be the L.A. team of the ‘90s, this Laker fan just shook his head. Fabulous talent alone (Manning, Harper, Smith, Norman) and even getting rid of Benoit Benjamin (perhaps the Clippers’ most significant achievement) doesn’t make a great basketball team.

I don’t want to take anything away from Del Harris’ accomplishments, but just as it’s easy to ad-lib when you’ve got it written down, it’s much easier to win--and become coach of the year--with Jerry West stacking the deck for you.

Let’s kick some butt in the playoffs, see what kind of rabbit Jerry’s going to pull out of a hat this summer, come back next year and take the whole thing.
