H-P to Offer New Color Printers for Homes: Palo Alto, Calif.-based Hewlett-Packard Co., seeking to exploit the mushrooming home PC market and fend off aggressive rivals, plans to introduce new color ink-jet printers designed specifically for home use. Michele Hamilton, Hewlett-Packard desk jet product manager for the United States and Canada, said the printers, which Hewlett-Packard will formally introduce today, offer improvements over current models in terms of print quality and speed and ease of use, and for no additional cost. The new models, the HP DeskJet 660C printer for IBM-compatible personal computers and the DeskWriter 660C model for Apple Computer Inc.’s Macintosh computers, are expected to retail at roughly $499, she said. The DeskJet 660C replaces the DeskJet 560C, and the DeskWriter replaces the DeskWriter 560C model.
