Quirky Smirks

Had Mark Miller turned in his sleazy attempt at humor as an assignment in my free-lance writing class, I would have advised him to edit it heavily (“He Can Laugh Now. . .” Palm Latitudes, April 9).

Laughing at mass murder (“I’ve started work on a musical tribute to Jeffrey Dahmer. . . . It’s called ‘An Appetite for Life’ ”) is sick. Had Miller refused to alter his text, I would have suggested that he attempt to sell his degenerate essay to the Star or the National Enquirer, but even their editorial policies have limits.

The Los Angeles Times Magazine would not have been on my “list.” It is now.
