Economic Development Corp. Appoints New President

Lee Harrington has been appointed president of the Economic Development Corp. of Los Angeles County, succeeding Gary Conley, who has been named president of the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Sciences in Cincinnati. Harrington, 48, recently took early retirement from Southern California Gas Co., where he was a senior vice president. He has served as vice president of the EDC and chairman of the L.A. Means Business Campaign. During his tenure, Conley tripled EDC membership and economic development programs and helped create the Los Angeles Regional Technology Alliance. The EDC is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing leadership and programs to accelerate economic recovery in Southern California.

* Pioneer Electronics Inc. has named Kerry McCammon and Gregory Peck senior vice presidents. McCammon, who joined Pioneer’s Long Beach office in 1985, will direct all marketing activities for the company’s Home Electronics division. Peck will be responsible for all data-processing, telecommunications and personal computer support for the four distribution companies of Pioneer. He has been with the company since 1978. Pioneer is a leading manufacturer and marketer of cellular phones and of audio and video products for the home and car.
