Urban Inflation Rate Stops Falling: The decline leveled off in 35 major Chinese cities in April, while the pace of industrial output growth increased, the State Statistics Bureau reported. Last month, the rate of consumer price increases fell in 17 of the cities surveyed, rose in 17 others and was steady in one, Nanchang. In March, 20 of the cities surveyed recorded lower price increases. Significantly, the consumer inflation rate increased in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin and Chongqing.
