Oracle Chairman Resigns: James A. Abrahamson will relinquish his post June 1. He will be replaced by company co-founder and Chief Executive Lawrence J. Ellison. Abrahamson, who remains on Oracle Corp.’s board, will join the Washington branch of Galway Partners, an investment and merchant bank, where he will pursue aerospace start-ups. A retired lieutenant general in the Air Force, Abrahamson came to Oracle in September, 1993. He was a key negotiator in Oracle’s deals with regional phone companies in which Oracle’s database software was customized so telephone customers could have movies on demand.
