Countywide : Gang Victims Services Gets $56,000 Grant

The Gang Victims Services program will receive $56,000 this summer to continue providing counseling and crisis intervention to victims of gang-related crimes.

The County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday adopted a resolution accepting the federal grant money, which will be forwarded to the program’s four employees as soon as the state criminal justice office in Sacramento releases it.

The Gang Victims Services program is a 24-hour operation that helps the victims of gang-related violence in Anaheim, Westminster, Santa Ana and other parts of the county. It is one of the many programs run by the nonprofit Irvine-based Community Service Programs Inc.

Federal money is set aside each year for special groups, such as the victims of gang violence, said Susan Perdue, the assistant director of the program.
