Honda Bribery Case Goes to Jury: One of the biggest bribery cases in the history of the U.S. auto industry went to the jury after closing statements were made in the trial of two former executives of Torrance-based American Honda Motor Co. The former executives, John Billmyer of Raleigh, N.C., and Dennis Josleyn of Penn Valley, Calif., are charged with masterminding a massive kickback scheme that stretched across 30 states. Prosecutors charge that former American Honda executives received $15 million in cash, jewelry, BMW automobiles and other gifts from dealers from 1979 to 1992. In exchange, the executives allegedly awarded lucrative dealerships and supplied cars to dealers.
