Chinese police Sunday detained two more dissidents for questioning, including former student leader Wang Dan, family members said.

At least five dissidents have now been detained as authorities react to a resurgence in political activism ahead of the June 4 anniversary of the military crackdown that ended the 1989 Tian An Men Square democracy movement.

Wang, 25, a leader of the 1989 demonstrations, was one of 45 people who signed an appeal to the government last week demanding the release of those still in prison for their part in the demonstrations. He was picked up at his home in Beijing. The other dissident arrested was Liu Nianchun, also taken from his home in Beijing.
