Felony and misdemeanor drug charges have been filed against the lead singer of the Stone Temple Pilots, a popular “grunge rock” group.

Scott Richard Weiland, 27, faces one felony count each of possession of cocaine and possession of heroin. He is also charged with one misdemeanor count each of possession of a smoking device and being under the influence of a controlled substance, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Tia Fisher.

Weiland, who posted $10,000 bail, is scheduled to be arraigned June 5 in Pasadena Municipal Court.

Weiland was arrested May 15 after he allegedly bought rock cocaine from a dealer behind a Pasadena motel. When he was taken into custody, the singer had heroin, cocaine and a smoking pipe in his possession, Fisher said.

If convicted of all the charges, Weiland would face a maximum of three years and eight months in prison, she said.
