12 Arrested in Silicon Valley Chip Sting: Undercover FBI agents capped a nine-month investigation with the arrests of the president of Prestige Computer Inc. of San Jose and 11 others suspected of being his accomplices in a ring stealing imported semiconductors. An agent who infiltrated the operation sold supposedly stolen chips to the company president, Lawrence Wong, officials said. Undercover agents set up a phony Intel Corp. warehouse for the sting, part of a crackdown on the thriving black market in high-tech components.
