Dentist, Psychologist Among 10 Honored by Chamber

Dr. Mark Lisagor, a dentist with offices in Camarillo and Oxnard, has been named Man of the Year by the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Priscilla Partridge de Garcia, a clinical psychologist with offices in Camarillo and Westlake Village, was named Woman of the Year.

They lead a list of recipients of the chamber’s 1995 Top Ten Community Awards to be presented at a banquet June 9.

Lisagor was honored for his dedication “to improving the health and growth of children in Camarillo, Ventura County and the world,” the chamber said.

He is active in the Camarillo Boys & Girls Club, the Camarillo Academic Olympics and programs to provide dental care for the needy. He has taken part in Camarillo area high school internship activities and is a past sponsor of the city’s Fourth of July celebration.

De Garcia has been involved in Casa Pacifica, the Camarillo Hospice, Tres Condados, United Way of Ventura County, Camarillo Friends of the Library and the advisory panel of the Camarillo Health Care District.

She is a counselor and re-entry center coordinator at Oxnard College.

California Amplifier Inc. was named the chamber’s Business of the Year. The firm has supported the Camarillo Family YMCA and the Camarillo Boys & Girls Club.

Tonya Mykleby, a senior at Rio Mesa High School, was named Youth of the Year. She is a certified HIV / AIDS instructor and takes part in the county Public Health Department’s Drugs and Alcohol Youth Peer Program.

Al Lowe, owner of Lowe Construction Co. in Fillmore, and Willaine Conroy, chairwoman of the St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital Foundation, were named Volunteers of the Year.

Lowe has helped raise more than $60,000 as a sponsor of golf tournaments staged to finance construction of a library at the Casa Pacifica children’s shelter. In addition to working with Casa Pacifica and the chamber, he is active in the Camarillo Noontime Rotary Club.

Conroy is a past president of the Ventura County chapter of the Children’s Home Society and Camarillo Heights School’s Parent Teacher Council. She is active in the Ventura County chapter of the National Charity League.

Rube Davis, a retired real estate broker, was named Senior of the Year. Davis, 89, is active in Senior Experts and Speakers on Numerous Subjects, or SEASONS, which provides speakers for the county’s schools. He is also active in a Brandeis University support group and a group devoted to studying the effects of aging.

Carol Hahn, a teacher at Valle Lindo School, was named Educator of the Year.

She was instrumental in securing funding for a computer and a writing program at the school.

Anne Thomas, a health clerk at El Descanso School, was named Public Servant of the Year. She was honored for helping needy children.

Soroptimist International of Camarillo was named Service Organization of the Year.

The group raises funds for such causes as the Camarillo State Hospital holiday party, Camarillo Convalescent Hospital’s poinsettia party, Camarillo Hospice, the Camarillo Library, Interface of Ventura County and the Camarillo Health Care District.
