Album Reviews : ‘Pulse’: Strong Packaging, Weak Insight

Share

* PINK FLOYD, “Pulse” Columbia Pink Floyd concerts have all to do with visual spectacle and nothing with live musical creativity. So it’s fitting that the focus of this live, two-CD set is on elaborate packaging (including a pulsating red light--batteries included!) rather than the band’s performance.

The musical selling point seems to be the complete run-through of “Dark Side of the Moon.” But that, like everything else here, sounds virtually the same as it did in the original studio version.

Of course, many fans who already own the original “Dark Side” (not to mention the 1988 live album that includes many of the same songs) will probably buy this anyway.
