Southern California Edison Co. announced Friday that Stephen E. Frank will join the company as president and chief operating officer, effective June 19. He was also elected to the board of Edison and its parent company, SCEcorp.

Most recently, Frank, 53, was president and chief operating officer of Florida Power & Light Co., where he reorganized the utility and concentrated on customer service. Prior to that, he was executive vice president and chief financial officer of TRW Inc.

The position at Edison was previously held by Michael R. Peevey, who retired from the Rosemead-based utility in 1993. Since Peevey’s retirement, the job’s duties have been handled by a six-member team of senior executives.

Fohrer remains chief financial officer of the two companies and Danner remains general counsel of SCEcorp and Edison.

Harold B. Ray was named an executive vice president of Edison. He was a senior vice president of Edison and remains in charge of Edison’s power Systems group, which includes its nuclear, power generation and transmission and substation organizations.

Edison also announced the promotion of three vice presidents to senior vice president posts. They are Robert H. Bridenbecker, customer solutions; Vikram S. Budhraja, planning and technology, and Georgia R. Nelson, performance support. They will continue to head their respective departments.
