Fueling the Flames
* It appears as if we might be passing up yet another great opportunity in a time when everyone is scratching their heads for the answers to why there is so much teen-age pregnancy and abortion.
Once again we see those in a position to make a difference actually fueling the flame (“No-Bussing Memo Inflames Passions,” May 24).
I find questionable the tactics used by one dean of students, Toby Thurlow, to stifle “affectionate couples” on the Mission Viejo High School campus.
Rather than using a deterrent such as after-school detentions, parent notification and suspension, it would seem to make more sense to sex-educate those clearly showing a need for direction.
