U.S. Steel-Pipe Makers File Trade Complaint: A group of manufacturers of steel pipes and tubes filed a petition with the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office, alleging that South Korean manufacturers are keeping prices artificially low. The group said the South Korean government keeps the price of steel used at state-run Pohang Iron and Steel as much as $100 a ton lower than world market prices, costing American makers of steel pipes and tubes as much as 4%, or $80 million, in lost sales each year.
