McMullen & Yee Publishing: The Placentia magazine publisher has been acquired by K-III Communications Corp. of New York. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. McMullen & Yee is one of the nation’s largest publishers of special-interest automobile, truck, motorcycle and boating magazines. Its 18 publications include “Truckin” and “Street Rodder.” The 26-year-old company’s magazines have a combined paid monthly circulation of more than 1 million. K-III officials said they are not planning any editorial changes at the magazines. The newly acquired publications will be part of K-III Media Group, one of the nation’s largest magazine publishers, with more than 82 publications, including “Seventeen,” “New York” and “Soap Opera Digest.”
