San Bernardino police were looking Wednesday for the parents of a boy between ages 2 and 3 who apparently was abandoned Friday at a mall.

The youngster, whose first name is believed to be either Josh or John, was discovered at the Montgomery Ward department store at the Carousel Mall in San Bernardino on Friday evening and turned over by mall security to police, said Cheri Williams, a missing persons community services representative for the Police Department.

She said the boy is 3 feet, 1 inch tall, weighs 25 to 30 pounds and has light brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a blue corduroy bib overall outfit with a white T-shirt and multicolored tennis shoes. She said he was unkempt, with bangs hanging over his eyes.

“He’s a cute little kid,” she said.

“He mentions Mommy and Daddy and says he wants to go home, but he can’t tell me where he lives,” said Detective Bill Rogers.
