Donations Sought for Rummage Sale

The Brea Senior Center is accepting donations of household items for the Peddler’s Rummage Sale, which will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

All proceeds from the annual event, conducted this year at City Hall Park, on Brea Boulevard south of Imperial Highway, will go to support the center.

People who want to sell items can rent a 15-by-15-foot space for $25.

Donations for the rummage sale may be dropped off at the center, 500 S. Sievers St.

Volunteers Needed for Varied Duties

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is seeking volunteers 55 and older to greet new volunteers and send birthday wishes.

The organization is also seeking volunteers for the American Cancer Society, the Rancho Los Cerritos historic site and the Helping Hands organization.

Volunteers are needed to answer phones for the American Cancer Society’s resources, information and guidance program.

Docents are needed at the Rancho Los Cerritos historic site.

Helping Hands volunteers are needed to deliver hot meals to homebound AIDS patients on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

College to Sponsor Walking Program

Golden West College is sponsoring a walking program for active seniors 55 to 79. The 10-meeting Walking for Seniors workshop starts June 23 and continues through Aug. 25 from 7 to 8 a.m. Fridays on the college’s outdoor track.

Ruth E. Bennett, who will conduct the class, has a master’s degree in education, with an emphasis on fitness for older adults. The program fee is $26.

The Westminster Senior Center will conduct its summer rummage sale from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday through June 17. Donations are needed for this annual event.

Group Hosts Trip to Hearst Castle

The Leisure World chapter of the City of Hope will travel to Hearst Castle on Monday and Tuesday. The trip will include a dinner cruise at Morro Bay and a stop in Solvang.

The cost of the trip is $130, which includes transportation, the castle visit and accommodations.
