Perceptronics Gets Contract to Develop War Simulator

Perceptronics Inc., a Woodland Hills maker of computer-based simulation systems, said it is part of a team of companies awarded one of three contracts by the U.S. Army to develop a new computer system to be used for commander training exercises.

The company declined to disclose the value of the contract.

The team, which is headed by TRW Data Technologies Division, is one of three selected to work on the system, dubbed WARSIM 2000, which will simulate battlefield situations using a network of interconnected computers. After six months, the Army will select one of the teams to continue developing and manufacturing equipment for the WARSIM 2000 program.
