CAMARILLO : Weekend Fly-In Planned at Airport
Highlighted by the presence of the world’s last flyable B-29 Superfortress bomber, the Experimental Aircraft Assn.’s fly-in at Camarillo Airport this weekend promises to be the best ever, organizers say.
The annual show, which runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, will also feature a variety of warplanes, according to event spokesman Russ Rullman.
“This is our 15th anniversary show and should be a good one,” Rullman said. “Those who come out will enjoy themselves.”
In addition to the B-29, which is owned by the Confederate Air Force, other World War II-era war birds on display will include a B-24 Liberator bomber, an F8-F Bearcat fighter and a C-46 Commando troop transport, Rullman said.
Dozens of experimental home-built airplane kits will also be on display.
This year’s fly-in has been dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II.
