How About an Award for the Boss of Bosses?

“Looking for the Best of the Worst Bosses” (June 10) cites examples of how various bosses treat their employees and says that the person whose boss wins the Worst Boss of 1995 Award will win a trip to Hawaii and $1,000.

Although the employee whose boss wins the Worst Boss Award receives a trip to Hawaii and $1,000, there should be a contest for the Best Boss Award.

The boss who wins the Best Boss Award could receive a trip and/or money as a reward for treating his/her employees properly and ethically. The Best Boss Award could also be an incentive and/or inspiration to other bosses to change their behavior toward their employees.

Treatment of employees can and will influence morale, productivity, production quality, customer service and eventually the company’s bottom line--although a company might do well in spite of itself. It’s unfortunate that many employers have not learned these important details.

Perhaps the possibility of winning the Best Boss Award might inspire other bosses to clean up their act. Sometimes miracles can happen.
