ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER and his wife, MARIA SHRIVER, have purchased the Pacific Palisades home of their next-door neighbor, actor DANIEL J. TRAVANTI, to add to their growing compound.

Two years ago, Schwarzenegger bought the home of his other next-door neighbor, actor John Forsythe, and that home is said to be used now for offices and a guest suite.

The Schwarzeneggers bought Travanti’s four-bedroom, 5,000-square-foot home for slightly more than $2 million. Built in 1981, the four-bedroom, 5,000-square-foot home is next to the Schwarzeneggers’ 6,500-square-foot main house, built in 1982.

In 1993 Schwarzenegger bought Forsythe’s home for about $3 million. Built in 1980, that home is 6,000 square feet in size and has a tennis court. Forsythe moved to a 30-acre ranch he bought in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Schwarzenegger started with his residence on about an acre and now, with the Travanti and Forsythe purchases, has an estate that is a bit more than 3.5 acres in size. “Because there are only a few houses on the street, he doesn’t have any neighbors on either side now,” a source said. “He was after Travanti for years to sell. Finally, Travanti did.”

Travanti, a stage and TV actor most widely known for his Emmy-winning performances as Capt. Frank Furillo on NBC’s “Hill Street Blues,” moved in May to Lake Forest, Ill., near Chicago and his hometown of Kenosha, Wis. He bought a four-bedroom, 4,000-square-foot house there for under $1 million through Mary Ann Haskings of Koenig & Strey in Wilmette, Ill.

When “Hill Street Blues” ended its seven-year run in 1987, Travanti, now 55, wasn’t eager to star again in a series, but in 1993, after only a few roles were offered to him, the Yale-educated actor played Lt. Ray McAuliffe on ABC’s Chicago-based “Missing Persons,” which was canceled and replaced in March. He decided then to move closer to his roots, sources say.

Schwarzenegger, 47, co-starred with Jamie Lee Curtis in “True Lies” and with Danny DeVito and Emma Thompson in “Junior.” His roles in “The Terminator” (1984), “Total Recall” (1990) and “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” (1991) led to his reportedly being paid $15 million to star in “The Last Action Hero” (1993).

Shriver, 39, married the former Austrian bodybuilder in 1986, and the couple has three children. A Kennedy family member, she is a TV journalist who appears on “Dateline NBC.”

Actor JED ALLAN, who plays the father of Ian Ziering’s character (Steve Sanders) on “Beverly Hills 90210,” has put his four-bedroom Oxnard Shores home on the market at just under $1.8 million.

Allan and his wife have been living at Lake Arrowhead and Oxnard for two years. Before that, they lived for about eight years in a beach house owned in the 1930s by Clark Gable.

“It’s a gorgeous home,” Allan said of their current Oxnard residence. “My wife, Toby, built it. “

The beachfront house is listed with Bernie Katz of Pacific Shores Realty.
