COUNTYWIDE : Hosts Sought for French Students

Share

Formation Internationale Voyages Etude (FIVE), a nonprofit French group that places exchange students, is seeking host families for July and August in coastal cities from Laguna Beach to Huntington Beach.

Mark Reinhold, trip coordinator for the French visitors, said they are coming to Orange County to learn to surf.

The students, between the ages of 15 and 18, must obey the host family’s house rules, including curfews, smoking habits and mealtime schedules, Reinhold said. The exchange students are prohibited from operating motor vehicles, carrying or consuming drugs, or staying out all night.

Host families, which may or may not include youths of the same age, are expected to provide “a warm environment and a welcoming home,” Reinhold added. Also required are a bed in a separate room or one to be shared with a peer of the same sex; meals, including sack lunches; conversations in English and participation in some program activities with the student.

One student group will arrive June 30 and another in August.
