SAN FERNANDO : MAPA Chapter to Meet Yaroslavsky

Share

The San Fernando Valley chapter of the Mexican American Political Assn. is scheduled to meet today in San Fernando with Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky.

Topics to be discussed include affirmative action, contracting opportunities for minority-owned businesses, proposed closures of two area medical centers, Proposition 187 and the Pacific Pipeline Project.

The pipeline project is a controversial proposal to build a new crude oil pipeline from a spot near Bakersfield through the San Fernando Valley to refineries in Los Angeles. Local MAPA officials have gone on record against the Pacific Pipeline Project, which is undergoing a series of public hearings hosted by the state Public Utilities Commission.
