New Data Scanner: Tamarack Technologies Inc. has begun shipping a new scanner, a device that enables computer users to turn photos and text into data that can be displayed on computer screens and stored on magnetic disks.
Tamarack’s $699 scanner can distinguish colors on photographs and process a letter-sized photo in 35 seconds, the Taiwan-based company said.
Tamarack’s five-person office in Orange sells scanners and paging equipment in the North American market. The company had more than $200 million in revenue last year and more than 280 employees worldwide, said David Hsieh, sales director for North America.
