A 28-year-old man is being held in Pomona City Jail without bail, accused of shooting his cousin to death Monday night after she evicted him from her Pomona home, police said.

Timothy Peoples was charged with the murder of Alice Clay, 28, two counts of attempting to murder police officers and assault with a deadly weapon, said Pomona Police Sgt. M. J. Ervin.

Clay was gunned down about 8:30 p.m. Monday at her home in the 800 block of Hyde Avenue, Ervin said. After she evicted Peoples, he shot her several times in front of witnesses, Ervin said. A stray bullet wounded a 6-year-old niece of Peoples and Clay, Ervin said. The girl, whose name was withheld, was treated at a local hospital for a leg wound and released.
