Richard W. Olivas, a lifelong Ventura resident, has died. He was 65.
Olivas died Wednesday at his home after a long illness, said his brother, Jerome A. Olivas of Vacaville.
A graduate of Ventura High School, Olivas worked as a food packer for the now defunct Las Palmas Chili Factory, his brother said.
Since retiring in 1992, Olivas spent his time taking long daily strolls along Ventura Avenue or riding a bicycle to the beach, Jerome Olivas said.
In addition to his brother, Olivas is survived by another brother, Robert J. Olivas of Ventura; a sister, Marjorie Gausted of Port Hueneme; and three nieces.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura.
