SIMI VALLEY : Host Families Sought for Japanese Students

Share

Seventeen Japanese youths visiting Simi Valley this summer are looking for families to host them.

The youths, ages 13 to 16, are from Nobeoka, about 600 miles south of Tokyo. They will be in Simi Valley Aug. 4 through 16 as part of an exchange program sponsored by the America Miyazaki International Homestay Assn.

The students will spend their two-week visit studying English and sightseeing, program coordinator Lisa Day said.

The host families would have the opportunity to learn more about Japan, an important subject in today’s global economy, said Rocky Mori, another program coordinator.

“You can’t talk about business without talking about Japanese or Japan,” Mori said.

Mori said funds are available to reimburse host families.

For more information or to volunteer space to house the youths, call Day at 527-2131 or Mori at 522-7422.
