THOUSAND OAKS : ‘Les Mis,’ ‘Evita’ Coming to Arts Stage

Broadway musicals coming to Thousand Oaks’ Center for the Performing Arts next season include “Les Miserables,” “Evita” and “Guys and Dolls,” theater officials said.

National touring companies will perform “Cats” Sept. 12 through 24. and “Les Miserables” Dec. 12 through 23. The Theater League, the production company that books major musicals at the performing arts center, will also bring “The Goodbye Girl” and “Evita” to Thousand Oaks.

The local Cabrillo Music Theater, which aspires to be the resident musical theater production company at the Civic Arts Plaza, is also staging several musicals.

“The King and I” is planned for Oct. 20 through 29 and “Damn Yankees” for March 29 through April 7, 1996. Next summer, July 12 through 21, Cabrillo will produce “Guys and Dolls.”

Other local theater offerings include the Santa Susana Repertory Company’s renditions of pioneer women in “Quilters” as well as “The Fantasticks,” “Driving Miss Daisy,” “Cyrano de Bergerac” and “A Christmas Carol.”
