Company Town : Warner Bros. TV Names New No. 2

David Janollari has moved up to the No. 2 slot at Warner Bros. Television, replacing Tony Jonas, who was promoted to president of the division Wednesday. Janollari, who has been with the company four years, was senior vice president of comedy development.

He is credited with the development of such popular series such as “Friends” and “Hope & Gloria” and of five of Warner Bros.’ eight new shows on the fall network schedule, including “Bless This House,” a comedy bought by CBS and starring Andrew Dice Clay. Jonas takes the position of Leslie Moonves, who last month agreed to become president of CBS Entertainment.

* Disney Channel executive Mark Handler was named president of Disney TeleVentures, a new entity of Walt Disney Co. Handler, who was senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Disney Channel, will serve as Disney’s point man in overseeing its programming, marketing and technological contribution to its new interactive television partnership with regional telephone companies Ameritech, BellSouth and SBC.

* Walt Disney’s Buena Vista Pictures Distribution continued to restructure its executive ranks, promoting Bob Cunningham, Linda Palmer and Gary Weaver to senior vice president positions. Last week, Buena Vista promoted Phil Barlow to president and Chuck Viane to senior vice president and general sales manager.

* Savoy Pictures has named Michelle Abbrecht senior vice president of publicity and Stephanie Kluft vice president of publicity.

* Kate McArdle has been named vice president of movies and miniseries at Spelling Television.

* Lucia Ludovico has been promoted to executive vice president of creative advertising for the Motion Picture Group of Paramount Pictures.

* Laura Gold was promoted to vice president of West Coast media relations for Atlantic Records.

* Daniel Savage has been appointed vice president of marketing for Lava Records in New York.

* Corin Nelson was appointed senior vice president of the motion picture department at Baker/Winokur/Ryder Public Relations.

* Brian C. Mulligan has been appointed vice president and controller at MCA Inc.

* Karen Flanzbaum was promoted to vice president of public relations for Turner Network Television Originals.

* Gail Lyon has joined Jersey Films as senior vice president, production.

* Jon Richmond has been appointed president of Fox Interactive.

* Cinar Films Inc. announced the opening of its Los Angeles office, which will be headed by Sam Wendel, currently vice president of development and production.
