Advanced Photonix Cuts Losses for Quarter, Year

Advanced Photonix Inc., a Camarillo maker of diodes and other electronic components, said it narrowed its loss for the fiscal fourth quarter that ended April 2 to $700,000, from $1.6 million in the same quarter last year.

Revenues for the quarter were $1.7 million, up 13% from $1.5 million a year earlier. For the 12 months, the loss was $2.4 million, compared to $3.9 million last year. Revenue was $6.8 million, up 8% from $6.3 million last year.

The company attributed the improved results to its efforts to contain costs, strengthen margins and improve its product mix.
