PLACENTIA : Development OKd Despite Objections
Despite objections from some residents, the City Council has given Riverside developers permission to start subdividing 12 acres of land for 89 single-family houses at Richfield and Orchard streets.
Two residents asked the council at Wednesday’s meeting to reject the development, saying the city already has a number of newly completed homes in the immediate area that have yet to be sold.
Howard Kay and Christian Oste also told the council that more development would put a strain on the infrastructure, creating less water pressure and possibly causing sewage backup.
“There are some houses in the city that aren’t selling, so I think you should wait and put this one under the table,” Kay said at a public hearing. “You should ask yourselves, ‘How is this development going to impact the future of the residents?’ ”
But a civil engineer representing Van Daele, the development company, said the infrastructure would not suffer. The council then approved the developer’s plans.
