Mr. Blackwell Sends Dis-Dress Signals

Share

Love him or hate him, the illustrious Mr. Blackwell has transcended time and many a fashion faux pas with his caustic views of the world and its wardrobe. But it was all fuzzy adoration for the premier don of the “Worst Dressed List” at a fund-raising luncheon Monday at BJ’s Chicago Pizzeria in Seal Beach.

Senor Blackwell charmed 50 women and a few men with tales from his autobiography, “From Rags to Bitches.” He talked of his impoverished youth as a street hustler in Brooklyn, of his struggles as an underemployed stage actor and his rising star as a fashion designer and style pundit.

He maintained his irreverence down to his interaction with the crowd, who apparently didn’t mind when he teasingly pointed to a few among them and suggested the “right” way of wearing their outfits.

Proceeds from the event go to the Pat McCormick Educational Foundation, a nonprofit organization that grants financial aid to underprivileged youths pursuing higher educations.
