PICO-UNION : Soccer, Music at Ecuadorean Fair
Ecuadorean food and music will complement a soccer tournament Saturday at “Loor a Guayaquil,” a soccer and cultural festival at Toberman Recreation Center.
Six preregistered adult soccer teams will compete inside the recreation center beginning at 10 a.m.
Outside, a picnic will feature traditional foods, dancing and live music, including an appearance by Grupo Chaarip, a Los Angeles-based group of musicians from the Amazon Basin who sing about environmental themes.
Organizers planned the festival to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the founding of Guayaquil, a coastal Ecuadorean city.
Admission is free, and the festivities will last until 7 p.m. Toberman Recreation Center is at the corner of 17th Street and Union Avenue.
Information: (213) 384-8903.
