Karcher Enterprises Names Vice President, Director of Finance
* Carl Arena has been appointed vice president, real estate for Carl Karcher Enterprises Inc., an Anaheim fast-food company. He will be responsible for all real estate development and management functions for Carl’s Jr. restaurants, including location development for Carl’s Jr.’s new dual-brand stores with Green Burrito and Unocal. He has been CKE’s director of real estate since 1987. Before joining the company, he was a real estate acquisition officer with Security Pacific National Bank in Los Angeles. Also, Debbie Park has been named director, finance. Since 1992, Park has served as controller of the Multimedia Products Group at Western Digital Corp.. Before that she was a senior auditor at Ernst & Young.
* Paul Vaughan-Griffiths has joined ICN Pharmaceuticals in Costa Mesa as vice president of pharmaceutical sales and marketing in Western Europe. He was previously international regional director for Davis & Geck, and before that was chief executive, director and general manager for Lederle Pharmaceuticals, U.K. In addition, Bernard Du Chatelier has been named general manager of ICN in Spain and France, and Gert Sokolowski has been appointed director of sales and marketing for diagnostics in Western Europe. Du Chatelier comes to ICN from American Cyanimid, where he was managing director of the Spanish subsidiary. Sokolowski formerly served as chief executive of several companies in Germany, including IBL, one of ICN’s largest European distributors. Most recently, he founded and managed his own consulting company, Biocore Diagnostics.
At ICN’s Orange County headquarters, Tom Shepherd, formerly director of worldwide licensing, was appointed vice president of worldwide business development. Tom Witty, previously director of diagnostics research and development, assumes the role of director of worldwide diagnostics marketing.
* R. Clifford Carper has joined U.S. Trust Co. of California as senior vice president and manager of its Orange County office in Costa Mesa. He was previously with the Newport Beach office of Kemper Securities, and was also a television host on the Los Angeles business channel KWHY-TV for more than 20 years.
* Kurt Keller has been named vice president of marketing and sales for Parker Hannifin Corp.’s seal group in Irvine. For the past five years, he has been marketing manager for Parker’s tube fittings division in Columbus, Ohio.
* Tom Bogle has been appointed vice president, full-line sales for Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. in Tustin. Bogle joined Toshiba in 1987 as vice president, sales. Since then, he was held various sales and marketing leadership positions within the company, including vice president, MRI business unit.
* John Rutledge has been hired as vice president and controller of Roberts, Mealer & Co. Advertising & Public Relations in Santa Ana. He is the former chief financial officer of Cochrane Chase, Livingston and Co., which was acquired by Saatchi & Saatchi.
* Rudy Pollak has been appointed to the board of directors of the Irvine Barclay Theatre Operating Company. He is vice president of administration and employee services at Taco Bell Corp.
* Tim McMahon has been made senior vice president of the retail services group for the Western region of Grubb & Ellis Co. McMahon, who has been with the real estate company 12 years, is based in the Newport Beach office.
* Jill Lewis has been appointed vice president of administration for Graphix Zone Inc., an Irvine multimedia company and producer of interactive music CD-ROMs. Lewis joined the company last year as executive assistant and human resource manager and was named manager of administration in January of this year.
* Patricia Stout has joined First American Financial Corp. in Santa Ana as associate corporate counsel. She previously was an associate at LeBouef, Lamb, Greene & MacRae in Los Angeles, specializing in corporate law, securities and real estate.
