Oxnard pet and bicycle owners will share the pain.

The City Council approved an increase in pet and bicycle license fees Tuesday to help offset an increase in Ventura County’s charges to Oxnard for animal control services.

Wrong information--An article Thursday incorrectly reported the status of a proposal before the Oxnard City Council to increase pet and bicycle license fees. The measure is still pending.

Cost to license a spayed or neutered dog will increase from $7 to $8.50. The charge for fertile dogs will rise from $25 to $27.

Cyclists, too, will be hit with an increase--fees will double from $3 to $6 for a three-year license.

Water rates, however, will decrease slightly after a council vote Tuesday. The 0.33% decrease means the average monthly water bill for a single family will dip from $19.82 to $19.75.
