Mark Alan Lipschutz, 45, director of the Santa Barbara Civic Light Opera and the Music Theatre of Ventura. During his career in production and management, Lipschutz also served as stage manager for three national touring companies of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical “Evita” through 1,400 performances in 110 cities. This year he received the Independent Theatre Award for his work on “Evita.” Lipschutz had served as stage manager of the Aquarius Theatre in Los Angeles, producer of Head Liners Ltd. in Santa Ana and general manager of the Harlequin Dinner Playhouse in Santa Ana. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English and drama from Bucknell University and a master’s in theater arts from Pennsylvania State University. He later was a fellow at the American Film Institute Center for Advanced Film Studies and received an MBA at UCLA. On July 15 in Santa Barbara.
