Compaq Signs Up Computer Distributor: The Houston-based company has signed on an eighth Vietnamese distributor for its products. Compaq Computer Corp.’s dealership pact with the state-run Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology comes about three weeks after the United States agreed to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Tan Kok Hin, managing director of Compaq Asia Ltd., estimated that about 60,000 personal computers have been sold in Vietnam to date, 40,000 of them in 1994. While small, the computer market here is “growing exponentially,” he said.
