LA PALMA : 2 Finalists Vying for City Manager Job

The city has narrowed its search for a city manager to two finalists, interim City Manager Len Wood said Wednesday.

Wood, who is not a candidate for the full-time position, said the City Council will be interviewing the two finalists, who were not identified, this week. He said the final choice will be announced about mid-month.

The city manager position opened in April, when Pamela Gibson resigned to assume a similar position in Sonoma. The City Council named Wood, a private consultant, to be interim city manager. Wood said at the time of his appointment that he would not be a candidate for the position.

“There were a total of 81 applicants for the position,” Wood said. “These applications came from all over the United States. They were screened down two weeks ago to about 20, and then the council met with six of them and interviewed them. We are now to the point where the council will be talking to the two finalists.”

Wood said the two finalists are from the Orange and Los Angeles county areas.
