With the aroma of fresh corn in the air, marching bands, antique cars and festive floats will proceed down La Habra Boulevard for the city’s 47th Annual Corn Festival Parade at 9:30 a.m. today.

The festival, which began Friday night and continues through Sunday afternoon, features 18,000 freshly cooked ears of corn, plus musical entertainment, game booths and rides at the El Centro-Lions Park. All proceeds go to nonprofit organizations and charities.

Festival organizers said they expect about 60,000 people to attend the event.

“This is the first year the festival is three days long,” said festival chairman Chuck Overbey, an officer of the La Habra Host Lions Club, which hosts the event. “In the past it’s only been two days, and we always had people here on Sundays looking for the Corn Festival. So we’ve extended it.”
