Bob Packwood should be kicked out of the Senate if he sexually harassed women, a bipartisan women’s group voted overwhelmingly Saturday.

Most of the 500 delegates to the National Women’s Political Caucus held up yellow cards proclaiming “yes,” that the Senate erred last week in closing hearings on the charges against the Oregon Republican and that he should face the toughest punishment. Only a handful held up blue “no” cards.

In May, the Senate Ethics Committee found “substantial credible evidence” of 18 acts of sexual misconduct by Packwood against 17 women from 1969 to 1990, including staff members, a baby-sitter and a Capitol Hill elevator operator.
