Wilson Pickett, Healey Band to Headline 2-Day Blues Fest

DANA POINT — Wilson Pickett and the Jeff Healey Band will headline the third annual Orange County Blues Festival Sept. 23 and 24 at Doheny State Beach.

According to organizers, the festival will feature 10 bands on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and 10 more on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with performances on two stages.

Healey will be on the Saturday bill, which also will include Luther Allison; Terrance Simien and the Mallet Playboys, a zydeco band from Louisiana, and guitarist Mike Reilly. Junior Wells, Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers, Otis Day, guitarist Debbie Davies and Pickett will play Sunday. Other acts will be announced.

Tickets go on sale Monday through Ticketmaster and the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce ($12 a day for adults, $5 a day for ages 3 to 12. Children under 3 will be admitted free). Information: (714) 650-5483.
