Obituaries : Robert J. Roders; Plant Lover, Nursery Salesman
Robert J. Roders of Ventura, who indulged his love for plants in his work at the Green Thumb International nursery, has died of cancer at the age of 35.
Born in Kenosha, Wis., Roders moved to Santa Barbara in 1978 and came to Ventura two years ago.
Before joining Green Thumb, where he worked as a nursery salesman, Roders worked at Mound Nursery in Ventura.
He is survived by his partner of seven years, James W. LaVeck II. He also leaves his brother, Richard Roders of San Luis Obispo.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses Assn.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home chapel.
