Orange County’s July Foreclosures Up: Home foreclosures were up 27.5% in Orange County during July from the same month the previous year, according to DataQuick Information Systems, a real estate data firm in La Jolla. Still, despite the July increase, foreclosure activity in Orange County for the first seven months of this year has actually declined 2.3% from the same time last year. “While July is up significantly, I think foreclosures so far this year have stayed pretty flat,” said John Karevoll, a DataQuick spokesman. DataQuick’s numbers track the forclosure filings, or notices of default filed with the county during the month of July. Typically, the forclosure process takes four months. During July, there were 917 notices of default filed with the county, compared to last July, when only 719 notices were filed. The Los Angeles foreclosure rate was nearly unchanged from the same month last year, and in San Diego County, foreclosures increased 12.4%.
