CYBER GRRRL: Young women wanting to start bands are going to soon have a new place to hook up with others. A new site on the Internet’s World Wide Web will be devoted to matters relating to women in rock, with a main feature being a free “classified ads” section in which would-be Patti Smiths and Courtney Loves can hook up with other musicians.

The Web site is being created by Carla DeSantis as an extension of her monthly Rockrgrl publication, and it will also feature all the magazine’s cover stories (the current one is Jill Sobule) and other highlights. DeSantis expects to launch the venture by fall. Progress updates will be carried in Rockrgrl and in her American Online folder called RGOL, or you can e-mail her via Carla@Rockrgrl.com.
