Abu-Jamal Gets Attention He Deserves

Share

We can all celebrate, along with Howard Rosenberg, that the mainstream press is finally covering award-winning reporter Mumia Abu-Jamal’s efforts to get a fair and impartial retrial on his 1981 murder conviction in Philadelphia (“Abu-Jamal Case: The Might and the Limits of the Press,” Calendar, Aug. 11). Perhaps if Mumia’s first trial had received only a fraction of the media attention devoted to O.J. Simpson, his civil rights would not have been so blatantly abrogated and he would not have wasted his most productive years in prison.
