Trade Group Says Machine Tool Orders Rose 9.1% in July: The Assn. of Manufacturing Technology said domestic customers increased their orders by 9.8% in July over June, and that demand from abroad edged up 5% during the month. “Orders continue to run well ahead of the expected rate of growth,” trade group President Albert W. Moore said. The group said orders for the first seven months were running 14.6% ahead of a year ago.
