Trojans No. 7, Ohio State Now at No. 10

USC is ranked No. 7 in the first Associated Press regular season college football poll, with UCLA No. 15 and Arizona No. 19.

Ohio State’s rout of Boston College in the Kickoff Classic on Sunday boosted the Buckeyes to No. 10.

The Eagles, ranked 22nd in the preseason poll, dropped out of the top 25.

Michigan’s 18-17 comeback victory over Virginia in Saturday’s season-opening Pigskin Classic at Ann Arbor, Mich., had little effect on the rankings. The Wolverines, who won a last-play touchdown pass, rose one notch to No. 13 and Virginia remained No. 17.

Florida State, which opens against Duke next Saturday, remained No. 1 with 32 first-place votes and 1,501 points in the nationwide media poll.

Nebraska was second with 15 first-place votes and 1,446 points, and Texas A&M; was third with six firsts and 1,360 points.

Nebraska opens against Oklahoma State on Thursday night.
